Hi,

Trying to back up DVD's using DVD Back Up, DVD2OneX and Toast.

thing is it used to work but now I get this error message when I try to play them using DVD player.

'DVD encountered a system error- could not detect a valid media file [-70001]'

Any idea what part of the process is going wrong?

have you tried playing it in vlc, or can dvd player play dvd's besides that? I only ask because the problem could lie with the dvd player app and not the movie.

You are right it plays on my portable with the time in the top left and the menu is all the VTS files, ie when the DVD menu comes up it doesn't work clicking on Play Movie does nothing, it just 'plays' the menu.
It plays through the whole movie though.
Any idea what this means, and how it can be rectified?

Thanks a lot

could be a problem with the ripping, I've never used dvdbackup, I always use mactheripper,
soI'm not sure of the difference, if clicking play movie doesn't work, there should be files called something like menu01.vob etc, if not, it may be that it wasn't ripped correctly, there should be some other files as well, like white docs, they're small files that tell the menu how to work and such, if they're missing, thats probably part of it. if you can, I suggest using mactheripper and rip it again.

Used MActheripper with same results, it plays using VLC too - pity about the PS2 and lack of menu functions, but that's good enough for me.

thanks a lot for your help
