Black Friday not so Black?

Just went to Fry's and Best Buy here in SoCal. Not nearly as crowded as last year. Looks like sales may really be down this year.....

Scored a 1Tb Samsung bare bones internal HDD for $69 though....

I was all set to buy some new hardware at Apple, but the discounts were nothing that compelled me to part with any cash. Kind of a hyped Black Friday if you ask me.

I didn't even partake in it. We went to an antique store in Wisconsin and then we thought we would stop by the outlets but it was too busy for us and we just drove through. Kind of glad that we are practically done with Christmas shopping

Fry's in Phoenix was a zoo yesterday.. course, I'm a country-kid.. and somewhat of a misanthrope.. so 300 people == zoo for me

But the local mall's parking lot was so packed that people were parked at the Linens and Things (Closed) across the street.. and that lot was full. My teenager reports that her work was 'Really busy'.

I've never been overly impressed with Apple's 'Black Friday' prices... Corp discounts are still much better, so I have no incentive to buy in November (really kind of thankful for that.)

I did most of my shopping online. Lowe's had a ridiculous shipping charge and didn't allow for store pickup. Same thing for a few DVDs and CDs I picked up from Target and Best Buy. So I just waited until 9 or 10am and got them from the stores. Best part was the tv that I ordered online from Best Buy and the DVD player from Sears were ordered Thurs night and available for pick up Friday morning. I've never gone early and fought the crowds and now thanks to online ordering (mostly Thurs night) I won't ever have to.

I was wanting a new 20" monitor to replace my little Dell monitor. But since I am not willing to get up at 5AM to wait in line, I missed Black Friday. But I was with some friends, and we stuck the ends of balloons in our car windows and drove around. Pretty funny. Wow that was very off topic, but I'm going to click "Post" any way.
