Analog to Digital Converter!

Okay I know there are a couple of threads on this, however, they aren't really all that full of information. I have a hi-8, very old panasonic camera which if I plug into my tv (using rca (or video/audio) cables) work fine. What I would like to do is find some sort of converter that will allow me to plug those rca cables into it and through either usb or firewire allow the transfer of the video into my mac mini.

Does anyone here have any experience with this? - Any help would be greately appreciated.

Cheers!

They sell a couple different products that will allow you to do what you want.

Doesn't look like they have anything that would be useful for me. How about this?

http://www.4videoequipment.com/vide...-110+-+Analog+to+Digital+Converter+for+MAC/PC

This is kind of confusing:
Features:

> Ulead MediaStudio® Pro, and Windows Movie Maker
> Audio-only conversion
> No need to install drivers or any software applications
> Powered by IEEE 1394 FireWire connector*
> NTSC and PAL compatible
> Color bar reference signal generator
* Using the 4-pin IEEE 1394 FireWire connector requires a power adapter
(sold separately)

Any help would be appreciated. So far, this is the most affordable one I've found.

cool, thanks guys. I'll go with the formac one, it seems to be pretty straight-forward, I just hope it lasts.

Cheers!
