Thanks Andrew. I saw that this afternoon. Looks like a hefty download of over 800 MB for the full Pro version. I did want to get a look at the new version of MS Publisher but I don't know if I want to test the entire package.

I might download it anyway... :Smirk:

Regards.

It's a nice update with a few small quirks here and there. One nice thing about it is they got rid of the giant "Office" button and put "file" instead. It's just one of those annoying little things when you're new to the system. Took me a good month until I realized it was a button in 2007.

Other things are the updated interface to Outlook and Onenote. It finally has 64-bit support as well.

Does anyone know if it's Intel only? We still have one G5 running Office 2004.

By the way, isn't this an odd forum for this topic?

This is Office 2010 for Windows. So yes, technically "Intel" only and AMD. I added this to the Windows section for this reason, since I know many people use the Windows version of Office on their Mac.

Have no idea, but remember this is only the beta. There's still the Release Candidate left.

I had heard that Office 2010 was going to be coming. I don't remember where, but I'm sure that the context made me think this was Office for Mac, thus my confusion about this topic being here. It might have been in MacWorld magazine, or on a Mac forum, but not under a Windows heading. If you can still do so, maybe adding the W word to the post or title would be a good idea.

Office for Mac 2010 was announced, but I don't believe Microsoft does beta testing with Mac versions, at least not public ones as far as I know. I'll keep the suggestion in mind next time.

I'd try it, but I don't really want to remove 2007 to test it out. Is there a way to run both, without screwing up the registry, dlls, etc?

The only way I know how is to install the latest version first (2010) and then install the old version (2007).

I ran both of them at the same time without issue. I've pretty much transitioned over to 2010 because it is FAR superior to 2007 (and 2008).

Now if only Windows would make things like calDAV support as easy as it is on the Mac. And Networking. And pretty much anything that should be super easy and is overly complex.

They got Office right, which is awesome, but over all, I still use my Mac more than my Win 7 Boot Camp partition.

So do I but I need both versions of Office since we still use Windows machines along with the Mac. It will be another year before we can transition to the Mac platform completely.

Office 2011 for the Mac is promised before year's end - if you can believe Microsoft. That will be a welcome upgrade since they are now including Outlook and have restored VB macro capability.

Regards.

I deleted 2010 after running it and 2007 alongside each other. I wasn't particularly impressed or disappointed so I'm sticking with current production. I'll wait for the official release and try again.
