Opening files in windows

I have loaded Parallels and Vista on to my new MAc as I need to run Sage accounting software. I receive Sage backup files from a colleague via email so that I have the latest data but don't know how to move them to the windows part of my Mac and upload them into Sage. It seems I am missing some basic process knowledge.
