What is the student discount? I always read they have a great student discount or the like but no one ever puts some numbers out there. What are we talking 10-15%?

It depends upon the product and can vary from around 10-50%. Go to the apple store and under the "More Stores" section (on the right near the top) select education.

EDIT: As an example Tiger is $129 normally but $69 with education discount. (46% off). Most hardware is around 20% off. But the Mac Mini, with its much smaller margins, is around 5-10% off.

Yeah, it varies, usually the higher priced the item is, the greater the percentage off.

How do you apply for student discount? Do you have to send them something or do they take your word for it?

When I made a purchase at the local Apple store, they made me show my student ID and my drivers license.

I have made online orders, they've always taken my word, or at least haven't asked for anything, I'm a student though also, so its cool, though I'm sure they randomly check.

I believe on on-line orders, that after you place the order. They then verfiy that if you are a student or not.

Student ID card - drivers license (very simple no-hassle)--- discount varies a bit per item but runs between 10-15%
