no I'm mystified because I'm used to a pc meanderings and know where to go to fix most of the simple stuff! but in a mac world I'm like the sheep to the wolves lost and wondering where to go to get out of harms way. and thanks for the welcome ChrisK.

Don't worry. You'll probably find Macs easier to fix than your old PC. That's not to say it won't be frustrating, because you're unfamiliar with the ease of use. I suspect you'll soon be wanting to get the Grinch out of there and replace him with Santa Claus.
