Use photoshop, I use imageready exclusively for creating things that go on websites, or really, I create them in photoshop, and then import them into image ready.

For logos, adobe illustrator is really the best program to use. Photoshop deals w/ raster images, and illustrator uses vector. Do a google search for rastor and vector images to understand more.

rs2sensen is right about using vector for logos. I'm really glad that I took a vector graphs class for the fun of it, because it has come in handy so much. If you are not familiar with vectors graphs, you can pretty much scale anything that you make without loss of quality. Also check out Macromedia Freehand MX.

Yeah, iWhat is also right. I have Freehand too, good piece of software, but my experience is more on Illustrator. Yeah, the advantage of vector (made up of points mathematically connected into lines) is that they can be blown up a million times and still be perfectly clear. Raster images, are made up of dots, and when blown up even a little bit become fuzzy and pixelated.

yup, photoshop is for image editing and creation, imageready is purely a web prep/design/layout type app, you can't do much designing in imageready.
