Why would it be Apple? Sounds like your ISP is the one who is redirecting the route to the Google page where your email resides. Since it doesn't happen all the time I would say it points to them.

The next time it happens run a "trace". Here's how:

Open Applications, Utilities, Network Utilities.app. Select "Traceroute" from the top menu. Enter the IP address or named address of GMail and press the trace button. Copy the contents to your clipboard and then save it to a text file.

When GMail is OK do the same thing and again save the contents to the same text file. Now compare the two. This will also give you backup when calling your ISP tech support to find out why this is happening.

Just asking. I am just trying to trouble shoot and I don't have a lot of knowledge about computers. Thank you though.
