• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

open in quicktime and export audio as aiff. import audio and video files separately.
FCP can only playback aiff files.
you can also export your mpeg as DV or mov with quicktime and then import it.

note*
make sure you have built in audio in preferences. see the pic

yea, pro. but if you have FCP, quicktime pro is included. if for some reason you don't have one, you have to get the activation code for pro. there is no separate release of quicktime pro as such, its the same free quicktime everybody has, you just need to unlock pro features with serial number.

one more thing, have you tried to open those mpegs in iMovie? I know it sounds strange but sometimes i Movie can do magic over pro.

there is a nice free app for video convertion, called ffmpeg. you can try that too.
