Text not appearing correctly in Photoshop CS3

Your Mac's Specs
13" MBP - 2.7 Ghz, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM.
I'm trying to add text to a .jpg image at 30 pt., but it's barely appearing. It looks microscopic. Why is this? The dimensions of the image are 72 pixels / RGB Color.

Maybe the size of your jpg is huge, even though it's 72 dpi, it maybe like 10000 x 10000 px :D

MBP 2.3 Ghz 4GB RAM 860 GB SSD, iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 32GB RAM, Fusion Drive 1TB
Zoom in at 100% and then pick the point size. That gives you more of a sense on how large or small your type should be.
