I am about to buy a mac pro and an iphone. At present I have all my music stored on windows media player and backed up on an external hard drive. How do I transfer it to itunes on the mac.
I have looked for sites on this but cant find anything with a straight answer.
Can anyone help me.

What type of files are they? If they're MP3 files, simply moving them over will work. If they are Windows Media files, you'll have some converting to do, which will result in quality loss.

If they are on an external hard drive,
just (in iTunes) go file>add to library
