I'd like to completely shut off my Internet connection from my PC now that my MBP is handling those duties. I tried to lock down the firewall but I can still get web pages and can still ping servers so that's not exactly what I wanted. Any suggestions?

You could log into your router and block the ip address for your PC. It would remain on your local network but the router would stop it from going out to the internet.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.
