Got me a new car!

Got me a new ride! Picked it up yesterday. It's a 2009 VW Passat. I've gotta say, the navigation/entertainment system on this car is amazing. It's got a 20GB hard drive, so I don't have to worry about plugging in my iPod.

Very nice I have always been a fan of the Passats, well kash if you didn't already your going to have to beat of the ladies with a stick.

I tried to but there was some nonsense that went on with that. Let's just say I got shafted when the government imposed a deadline.

Well actually, it was a necessary purchase. My other car was on the verge of dying, and I mean literally dying. Transmission dying, engine was misfiring, passenger side window wouldn't roll up anymore and I'm pretty sure the catalytic converter was not fit for the next smog inspection considering the smoke and smell it was putting out. It's sad, I really enjoyed that car. I'm going to miss it

Yea, it was so weird, everything was working fine just a few months ago but in just a matter of a few weeks it all started dying on me.

Oh well, no worries, I have a new car that's a lot of fun!

The deadline is for August 24th, 2009 is it not?

Yea. Thing is that my last car was in my dad's name (I've been driving the thing since early college) so they needed him to sign off on the paperwork. Problem is that he lives on the other side of the country and so there wasn't enough time to send him the documents and have them back in time to make the 5PM deadline on Monday. What sucks is that when I started the car shopping process, there was no deadline for the program. It was imposed literally a day or two before I bought my car. Hence why I got shafted by the government.

I have had a Golf GTI in the past and it was solid. We still have a VW Beetle that the other half uses as a run around [yes, she has the flower too! lol]

Not to start an argument, but I disagree that a car is a necessary purchase, even for a college student. It's inconvenient not to have one (ask my oldest) but it doesn't seem like a "Must Have". I mean, there are lots of college kids out there without cars.

No, I'm not implying there was anything wrong with your purchase, just playing devils advocate perhaps.

I'm not a college student, I'm a law student. There is no on campus housing for my law school, so I need a car to get there. Not to mention I also need a car to get to work (i.e. Superior Court and the DA's office, not exactly walking distance).

Thanks guys! I keep wanting to go drive around for fun ;P
