• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have looked for hours for a program that puts my DVD to an ISO. On PC I use DVD decrypter, mac... I can't find anything that works. I've tried a whole bunch of programs and none work. Some profess to make ISO but they don't, others just simply convert to an iPod, iPhone etc etc. I don't need that... I want my DVD ripped to an ISO (so its uncompressed into one simple file) so I can burn to a DVD at a later time.

Thanks for any help guys!

Err, Disk Utility will make ISO's.

I have read about disc utility being able to do ISO's however nobody's instruction to do so worked. So I decided to mess with it myself and turns out it's extremely simple.

Disc Utility allows you to make a .cdr file. (click the disc - New Image from toll bar - name it and save) I looked around and found out that .cdr is basically the same as .iso all you have to do is manually change the file extension after it's complete.

hope this helps someone else.
