I keep hearing three bings every few minutes on my iMac. Just started today. Checked running processes but nothing unusual. Any suggestions to see what's making this occur? Can someone be trying to access my computer remotely?

Do you have mail open? I can only think of that if it is, it might be that is checking your mail and you have no new mail. If you have three mail accounts, then this is probably your answer.

Other question, did you recently install/ modify your RAM? If you did, then three beeps can be serious.

Ah yes mail open with three accounts, but it never made that type of sound before. I didn't change any settings. I'll look into that. Appreciate your response.

OK it appears it's the mail. It seems that Roadrunner is having a problem here with mail and the bings are to alert me that mail cannot be retrieved. Thanks everyone for the responses.
