Warning: Mac OS X Update to 10.5.7

Guys,
My macbook laptop came with 10.5.5 preinstalled. I upgraded to 10.5.7 and tried it for more than 24 hours.
Let me tell you: it 's a DARN disaster!
The computer was incredibly hot (70, 75 or more) and the fans went craaazy (6000rpm).
I was just surfind using Safari and listerning to some records in VLC.

So guys, don't take the risk of updating to 10.5.7. You're warned!

You must have had something go wrong, or there was something wrong with the macbook that you might not have discovered previously - 10.5.7 has been out for a while now, I've used it on my: Macbook, Mac Pro, Mac Mini and not a single one has shown the symptoms you are describing - only time my fans speed up to those speeds is when I'm using a huge amount of my processor speed - and on my macbook and mini, that has only happened when using Compressor from final cut studio to convert video.

The problem here is that 10.5.7 has been out for a while now and no huge complaints have been made. Therefore, when you come on here starting to claim that no-one should risk updating, it seems a little un-researched.
There is absolutely no problem with 10.5.7 - instead, I suggest there is a problem with your machine, or perhaps the install you have done of 10.5.7. Back-up, reset and install again. If bad things keep happening...Apple Store.

To back up Nethfel and The Bassist statements I too have been using 10.5.7 since it's release and have had nothing go wrong. It sounds as though you could have a problem on your machine.

Yep, the vast majority of Leopard users have done already made the move to 10.5.7. It's been out going on 3 months and is old news now.

I'd suggest downloading the combo update and install that. Hopefully, that'll take care of your issues. (And you did back up your system prior to the update also, right?)

Oh, btw: if you were watching video's - it'd be normal for the fans to kick up to 6000 rpm after heating upthe video card for awhile and 70c would be nothing that far out of the ordinary either.

Another thing worth mentioning is that there was a firmware update that was released around the same time as 10.5.7 for many Mac models, so make sure you didn't just install 10.5.7 and forgo the other updates.

And make sure that 3rd party software you have installed is not causing problems - I just upgraded to Safari 4.0 and it would not run - the problem was a TastyApps plugin not the Safari 4.0 update. Bet if u had done the 10.5.7 update on a clean system it would have been bullet proof.

Strangely, I downgraded back to 10.5.5 and the problem seems to be solved. I guess I'm just gonna stick with that one.

10.5.5 has issues that are fixed in 10.5.7. It's your choice but I feel it would be better to fix whatever is wrong and use the newer version of OSX.

Why dont you upgrade again, start up Activity Monitor and check which process is taking up your CPU cycles?
