Why is the 14' Ibook heavier then the 15' Powerbook? I would have thought Powerbook would be heavier considering the screen's an inch bigger and it's covered with alluminum.

I'm guessing the powerbook is lighter because of the aluminum. the ibook uses thicker plasic?

The iBook is heavier because Apple wants to keep the 14-inch iBook seperate from the 15-inch PowerBook in terms of features. If Apple made the iBook lighter than the PowerBook then some people would stop buying PowerBooks because you could get a lighter computer for less money.

Actually the iBooks are always heavier because they're built much sturdier than the Powerbooks. Why? Because the iBook is targeted at the home/student/school market. Students are going to give those iBooks a beating and they need to keep working. To do that, you really can't build them as light.
