Hello Everyone! I have a home made DVD that I would like to remove some parts from. How is this possible? I'm running Tiger 10.4.11

Thanks!

Import and edit it in iMovie. It's should be very simple.

I tried but I got this message:

The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh ...” can’t be imported;
QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -1409

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It plays fine on my Mac and myTV. Any other options?

Let's back up a second. What format is the video in? How did you go about extracting it from the DVD?

It is in Universal Disk Format. After opening iMovie & creating a new project I tried two different things. First I dragged the DVD icon into the black box. A small window came up for about a millisecond. This window had something about importing on it. But, nothing showed up that I could see. I then tried File->Import and double clicked on the Disk icon. That's when I got the message.

I'm still looking for help with this. I've heard of DVDxDV which helps with what I'm trying to do. I would like to edit the movie without downloading any additional apps. It seems like I should be able to do it with what came with my Mac. This is the first time I've tried to do this and I appreciate everyones patience.

This is a non-commercial DVD!

I think the problem is that iMovie doesn't support the disk image that you're currently using. I would try ripping the disc into something like an AVI using a program like Handbrake.

I'll try that later today! I'll post the results. Thanks for your help!

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11. Which version of handbrake should I use?

I got it!

Version 0.9.1 for Mac OS X 10.4
