Just got my first Mac and was wanting to know what I should be using as protection for malware and other nasties that may affect my Mac.

So far in four years or so i have only used commonsense and avoided shonky downloads so have yet to worry about Malware or protection.

In short: no. There are NO viruses designed for mac. There are a few trojans but those are easy enough to avoid: just don't pirate any software.
