• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

hi
i am new to this site,i find it very informative,i am in the market now for a camcorder and the one i have seen is a panasonic HDC-SD20,reading the info about this item it says it records to mpeg4,so my question is will i be able to download the movie clips from this machine onto my imac and watch and create dvd's using imovie,or will i have to download some other form of software,i have just bought the imac a couple of months ago so all the programmes i assume are upto date
any help would be most welcome as i don't want to spend nearly 400 quid on something that wont be compatable with my imac.

kind regards tone

According to Panasonics site here:

HDC-SD20-K - Full HD SD Card Camcorder [HDC-SD20-K] - Panasonic Australia

it says it is compatible with imovie, and it carries the apple Works with IMovie label - so I think your safe. I also noticed in one of the spec sheets I stumbled on it listed both imovie 08 and imovie 09. Earlier versions may not work.
ok,thanks nethfel for that, thats all i wanted to hear really put my mind at rest, think i will go for it,oh yes i have checked imovie version, it says imovie 09---8.0.3 (802).

thank's again and kind regards tone.
