having trouble transfer files

I just recently got a Macbook for college, and I'm having trouble transferring files from my PC to my Mac. I'm using a direct ethernet connection, but I keep getting error code 36. "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some of the data in smb://IPaddress/ShareName could not be read or written. I'm positive that my IP address is right, and plain text passwords are disabled on my PC. Can anyone help?
