• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a new iMac and my problem is that clicking to view video clips also downloads them. I only want to view them. I unchecked the "save movies in disk cache" box in Browser/Quicktime, but problem persists. What am I missing?

Can you give an example? Unless a clip isn't setup for streaming, I haven't had a problem clicking to view a clip. Now if a clip isn't capable of being streamed then it will AFAIK instead download...

It can be a quicktime or wmv and it will open just fine, but it also downloads. I just want to view it, not download. I then have to go into downloads folder and trash it. Thanks.

Hmm, I don't know. Can you give a specific weblink as an example? Perhaps if i can replicate what you're seeing I might have a better idea of what's going on; or maybe someone else might chime in that knows exactly what's happening...

I am with Nethfel on this. Unless the video is not set to stream, it never downloads for here. I have viewing videos since 10.2 Jaguar till now with 10.5.7 Leopard and never had that issue. Is this with Safari because that is what I use 99% of the time.

Give us some example URL's please.
