Is there a program (preferably free) that can convert an mp3 to a ringtone?
Also that can reduce the length of the song?
And, how could I send it to my phine, again, preferably free.
Thanks much.

A friend of mine uses Audacity. Don't ask me how it works but apparently it does. Anyway, give it a try since the program is free.

Link

He uses Audacity in conjunction with another program to convert the clipped audio to a ringtone. I'll try to find out what he uses.

In the meantime I found this site which purports to do it for free. Let me know if it works. Link

Regards.

I use Audacity to cut out the small part of the music (.mp3) file to make it under the 25 (well, probably 30 but 25 is probably better) then just use iTunes to convert the file to send to my (in this case) iPhone. For other phones, I use Bitpim.

Most modern phones can use short MP3 files as ringtones

You can use audacity to clip an MP3 in to a smaller mp3, then use bluetooth file exchange (in preferences) to transfer the shortened track to the phones music folder

Then you should be able to select the track as a ringtone in the phone's settings

If you have itunes then select 30 secs of the mp3 you wish to use. Then convert to aac and find in finder. Move the short file to the desk top. Rename the file from file.m4a to file.m4r
Double click and it will appear in itunes and it will show up in ringtones and on your iphone

Thats it
