Hi,

When I was a Windows user, I used to use the add/remove programs tool to remove unwanted software.

Now, on my Macbook, I just drag them into the trash basket- or should I be doing something more thorough?
Am I just removing the icon or access point by doing this, leaving the nuts and bolts of the software hidden in the system somewhere?

Cheers, CB

Not completely correct. This method is fine UNLESS the application you install used an installer instead of just dragging the item into the applications folder. If this is what you did to instal the programme then you need to use the un-installer inside the packages folder.

And also consider a utility such as AppTrap or AppDelete to remove all those hidden files and preferences if you do not have the uninstaller.

Excellent replies, most informative.

Many thanks.

Hope I can return the favour one day.

Thanks again, CB

I use AppCleaner to completely get rid of unwanted apps, and it's free.
