OK, I think I have one that hasn't been asked yet...

When in most Windows programs, if you type "->", it is automagically changed to an arrow symbol by some kind of auto-replace. These documents displayed in a mac show a "à" rather than an arrow.

How do I get an arrow? Even to replace the "à" with an arrow symbol?

You can usually find special character off the edit menu (Edit > Special Characters)
