ive got this movie that a friend of me made, and i cant play it in quicktime.. it works perfect on his macbook pro but ive only got an regular macbook.. the size of it is 1280 720 codec : integer (little endian), XDCAM EX 720p25 (35 Mb/s VBR)

is there any way i can make this work on my macbook?

it's a codec issue, I'd ask your friend to transcode it into a different format - if this is the raw footage from the camera, you may have some trouble as the codec normally only comes with Final Cut Pro.

There are two options tho you can look into, one is a pay for solution, one is free, but the free one is at your own risk, I don't know if it's really legit or not...

Have him make an H.264 version direct from the Timeline window, and it doesn't have to be full quality. The Quality slider can be close to half, and it'll still look fantastic.
