Resizeing HFS+

About a week ago I drug the old PowerMac G3 out. I'm running Mac OS 8.9 and want to dual boot with Ubuntu Linux. I went to set up the Linux distro and I ran into a problem: The main partition has all my free space! I've been searching the internet for the better part of the last 4 days and all I have come up with is you need the install discs or the recovery discs, both have been lost somewhere along the way. Is there any way to resize the partition without the install or recovery CDs?

Off hand I would say, no you would have to re-install. I have read sometime a while about ;ive repartitioning. Hopefully some one here may have read that also, anf=d will be able to point you in the right direction.
