• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I imported YouTube videos into I Tunes movie using I Squint but now I want to edit some parts using I Movie. What is the easiest way to move the video file from I Tunes to I Movie and then back to I tunes movie? Thanks.

First, three things for you to remember. I is iTunes and iMovie and iSquint. Capitalization counts as does spacing.

In iTunes you can drag the file from the listing onto the desktop or into a folder. I recommend dragging it into your Movies folder.

In iMovie, select Import from under the File menu and choose that file. Edit as needed. Assuming you are using iMovie 08 or 09, use the Share menu to export a copy of the movie for your intent and write it to your Movies folder with a unique name. Actually I think in the Share menu there is an option to send your creation straight to iTunes. Otherwise...

Open iTunes and drag the file onto it or use the File --> Import option.

If you have an older version of software, we would need to know that. Also, I'm assuming that the file type you have will work in iMovie.

iMovie 5.0.2
OS X 10.4.11 Tiger
iTunes 7

iMovie does not have the iTunes in the share options. Email, HomePage, Video Camera, iDVD, Quick Time, and Bluetooth only. Do I need to upgrade? If so, do I need to upgrade iLife ($79) first?

As I explained, get the movie out of iTunes and bring it into iMovie. Then try editing. Your iMovie version is a bit old buy I think my iMovie Export Guide can help you get your product out.

As for the iLife upgrade, review the specs required for it because your machine, what ever it is, might not be powerful enough for iMovie.
