For everyone who has been waiting to get a Mac for school, you will be pleased to note that Apple has posted their back to school deals online here (US Store). Other "stores" (for other countries) may or may not have the deal (the Canada store does but I couldn't find a deal for the UK).

I know many of you have been waiting for this so enjoy!

So have I:

http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/146790-free-ipods-w-macbook.html

http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/switcher-hangout/118716-free-ipod-macbook-purchase.html

...And the answer was still the same even back in 2007:

http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/switcher-hangout/82543-apple-com-ipod-offer-imac-purchase.html
It is a college student only offer and it comes around near the end of summer every year, running until late September or so.
It isn't exactly a free iPod, it is a rebate offer for the cost of an iPod Nano.
You still have to pay for the iPod up front, then complete the rebate form to receive the payback later.

Ah, but me and Eric559's were confirmations ;). This will hopefully stop the continuing of questions regarding the back to school deals.

I sure did ;). It's all good. At least we both had the same intentions :).

The response of mine that I quoted, has been posted by me in some fashion or another at least once a year.
It didn't stop them in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008...you get the point... I applaud your efforts... and I don't mean to sound like a "Negative Nelly"...but no amount of 'confirmation' postings are going to stop them from posting this question again this year or in any coming year.

Agreed. It can't hurt to try but I do agree that this won't likely change anything. Posting does help to bump this to the top though which might hopefully deter some people from asking this question.

At least we can point them to this thread and simply close the other threads rather than have a dozen threads with the same question and answers.

The real news is when the deal is over we're probably going to see new iPods and new Mac/MacBooks

Can the single Mac computer I buy in order to recieve the Ipod also qualify me for the printer rebate? That is, can I buy one computer and get a free Ipod as well as a free printer?

Yeah you can. I bought my iMac and I got the ipod touch and the hp wi-fi printer. Both had rebates.

Too many...

I think you might be slightly over exaggerating. A "new mac/macbook" will most likely, if anything, include a small, standard jump in speed. Maybe like from 2.0 to 2.4, and from 2.4 to 2.56. Even if it comes with the new snow leopard, I don't think it will be worth it because the potential savings from this deal is too good. This is how much my MB cost, $1599 + 229 for the touch + tax - student discount = total $1861. Now you take 229 away, and another, maybe 200 for selling the touch, and you are left with an amazing $1429 tax included. I think thats too good of a deal to pass up!

Okay I guess what I meant to say was, "The real news is when the deal is over we should be seeing updated MacBooks/iMacs and iPods."(for the people that want to see an update)

I think the real news is that it comes with a Touch! I could be wrong as I never took advantage of past deals, but didn't they come with a cheaper Nano rather than the iPod Classic?

I'm not sure about the nano or classic but the program allowed you to get an 8GB touch last year.

In some cases the deal is extended for the UK and they saw the new iPods while the Back to School Deal was on but they then found out it was only for the old iPods. I wonder what the new iPods will be like? I know I'm getting a 32GB version. Hopefully they are that big and for the same price as the 16GB ones now. Hmm, should I get an iPod nano / Touch? The thing which sucks about Canada is that you have to mail-in the rebate and in the US you can do it online.

It doesn't take long in Canada. I mailed mine in and got it back about 2-3 weeks later. I remember being surprised.

Also, you better check what iPods they will give you a rebate for. It's not all of them. When I did it last year, you could only get the 8GB iTouch.
