• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Pro Tools LE 6.9.2
Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)
Sony DCR HS30 mini dv

I have the above set up would like to know if the camera is compatible with Final Cut Express? I'm planning on recording music with my guitar with the Sony and Pro Tools LE and upload to You Tube. According to the tech specs on the software it will take the capture (mini dv) but does anyone know for sure?

From everything I've read, as long as you have the firewire cable, you should be ok. If you only have the USB cable, you need to go get a firewire cable.

I assume you had meant DCR HC30, as I couldn't find a Sony HS30 anywhere...

If it is the HC30, according to the specs, you should have a firewire port although I don't know if it came with a firewire cable or not.
