When you eject an external drive, is there any way to reconnect the drive without manually unplugging and plugging back in the firewire cable? I would leave them connected all the time but the constant spin up and spin down of the drives get annoying occasionally showing the beachball for a few seconds every now and then. So I just end up ejecting the drives. But then I need to access them again but I don't know any way to reconnect them via OS X. I always end up unplugging and plugging back in the firewire cable. Is there a way to reconnect via OS X?

Open Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities. Find the External drive in the list and highlight it. Then click on Mount. It should re-mount it.
