I love my Mac G4 867.

I have Jaguar on it.

I'm using an old IBM aptiva screen (vga) for now until I purchase my lcd.

The only problem I'm having is when I turn it on:
-I hear the chime
-The screen comes on
-I can see the grey sceen with the white apple icon
-Then the screen goes blank for a second
Like it shuts off or something
-It then comes back on with the blue background and it indicates that its booting OS X.

Is there any way I can get it from not shutting off and on like that?

Thank you. Your help is much appreciated.

I've got an older machine that kind of did something like that, but it stopped after using a 3rd party disk utiility. You might want to try merely running the "disk utility" included in OSX. I don't know if your situtation is the same as mine, but here is what you can try.

1. On the menu bar at top go over to the right to "GO".
2. Go down that menu to "Applications".
3. Double click "Utilities".
4. Double click "Disk Utiltiy".
5. Highlight your hard drive's name on the left of the menu, then click "First Aid".
6. Click "Verify Disk Permissions".
7. Follow up with a click on "Repair Permissions".

Again, I don't know if you've got the same situation that I have. If you see no affect after going through this process, then you may want to look into buying a 3rd party utility like DISKWARRIOR, DRIVE 10, or TECHTOOL PRO.

Well welcome to the Mac World and Mac-forums.com!
To start, I don't think you have a problem with your mac! :) Whats happening, is your Mac has a set resolution and it reads all that information right after the chime, your monitor probly has a default setting, that just wont go away. When you get a newer monitor it wont seem like its turning off, it may go black to change but wont seem like its turned off.. or a newer monitor will hold the settings :)

Anyone agree or disagree with me?

I completely agree.. many old monitors do exactly what he is explaining.. I believe it changes a "mode" when it does that.. it's no big deal :)
