I need to reformat my iMac so I can give to my mom. I want to erase everything that is on the hard drive and reinstall OS X Leopard, so she can start with a fresh mac. How do I do this? Thank you so much!

Why not just create a new admin user for her and then logged in under that delete the old user - Saves a lot of time loading on OS and all the updates Etc

does that get rid of all the programs that she will never use? (I did not know that was possible.)

Why get rid of the extra programs - she might surprise you and use one or two. The new user gets rid of all your user stuff but leaves the apps. U can delete the apps one by one if need be but seems a bit unnecessary

There are several programs I know she would not use as she does not like video games such as World of Warcraft. If I want to wipe a Mac and did not mind reinstalling things, how would I do it please?

Do a clean install off the original disk that came with computer and then download the Combo updater from Apple support to bring it to 10.5.7.

I would recommend creating a new account, logging in with that one, then deleting the old one.

Then, simply go through your apps folder and drag and drop the unneeded apps into the trash. That should do the trick and be a lot less hassle.
