i set up mail with my gmail account. pop is enabled and everything is configured correctly. I can receive mail (and I do), but I can't send. Everytime I try to send email to someone, it times out, and then i try another server, but still same problem.

Sounds like your SMTP settings may not be correct. Make sure you have the right info (as provided by GMail) and that your UserID and Password are correct. If necessary, delete the entire account and create it again.

Regards.

Open up Mail.app -> Preferences window
"Accounts" pane

Check your Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

* Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
* Server port: 465 or 587
* Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Yes
* Authentication: Password
* User Name: [email protected]
* Password: password

Don't forget to check the box marked "Use SSL" in "Advanced" tab
