Hi,
I am familiar with port forwarding and I've done it successfully before. However, I now find that both 'transmission' and 'shakespeer' claim their respective ports to be closed, despite me having forwarded them in my netgear dg834gt router. I have tried lots and lots of things and nothing seems to help. Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

Transmission uses UDP/TCP port 51413 by default, so make sure you forward those ports. I was perplexed by this as well since many clients use 6881-6889.

I've port forwarded ports 51413 for transmission and 1412 for shakespeer. These ports appear in the preferences of each application as well.
