• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Is anybody using Sony Vegas on a Mac?

How is it running?

I had a Macbook for a few months but sold it in favor of a Macbook Pro Refurbished.

I have a dilema that I have previously recorded MTS files that iMovie won't recognize, but not a problem in Vegas.

I am wondering if FCE of FCP will see and recognize MTS files that are on an external HDD.

Take a look VoltaicHD. Apparently it isn't that fast, but it may be the way to get those files working.

There are some tricks about making disc images with the files and then mounting those. The Apple tool then recognizes them. Thing is, you may be missing some files that allows that to work. I haven't done this, just read about it.

Sony Vegas is a Windows software package, so it shouldn't work under OS X.

I am aware that Sony Vegas is PC only. I was wondering how it runs under Fusion or Paralles, for example.

Vegas is the only satisfying solution to editing previously recorded video files without having to convert. This is my only peeve with iMovie that I am not able to edit video that I shot last year without having to do a bunch of intermediate steps; Vegas allowed me to do this within 3 minutes from download to install.
