• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Does anyone know of any camcorders that are compatible with a Mac?
I know not to get Sony as I've read that they aren't compatible. So anyone know of any camcorders(High Definition preferably), and where to get them?
Thanks!

I'm on the same boat. I had a small Insignia camcorder just to use for fun and it's not compatible. I would have to download different apps. I couldn't hear the sound and I wouldn't come up on imovie, it's a mess. Well, my camcorder just broke and I'm looking to buy a new one. Can someone help us out?

As for me, I've had a Panasonic HDC-SD9 I got at Best Buy last October for a screamin' deal of $599. It's HD (AVCHD), and is completely compatible with my MBP... I am using a combination of iMovie 09 (was using 08) and FCE 4. I basically import using iMovie, dump the footage, select it all as a raw dump, and then export to FCE with XML. FCE will pick it up, and then I can edit and master to my heart's content. :)

Cheers!
