Hello everyone, i was just wondering if it is possible to use my camcorder as a webcam on my mac. This will be mainly used to record videos instead of using the low resolution i-sight and for live video streaming when using MSN messenger, Skype etc...
There is a usb connection on the camera body, and whenever i connect it to my computer, it asks me if i want to playback on my computer, create a dvd, back up or direct print. I don't see how i can use it as a webcam in this case. The dock that came with it on the other hand has a mini i.link firewire IEEE1394 interface that allows me to connect it to the computer, but it did not come with that cable, so i was wondering if i buying the firewire cable would allow me to do what i want. The problem is, if that's the solution, then the camcorder will be sitting on it's dock all the time, which means i cannot mount it on a tripod and position it the way i want to. I am completely lost in this manner, and would appreciate greatly if someone could help me solve this irritating issue i am currently facing. Thank you guys!
