DVD Rip problems(they are my dvds i paid for them)

My first problem is that sometimes wen i am ripping a dvd with mtr it says bad vob. then when i go to watch the movie i get the menu but when i press play it doesnt do anything? is ther anyway to fix this? or wat is the reason its happening?


Sencondly how do you make video file smaller? i get it down to 1.7 gb but still is ther anyway to reduce the size even more and still have good quality?
