How do i move my download stuff to another folder without copying it?

I cant, the stuff is cluttering up my desktop and everytime i move it to another folder it just copies it...

Btw, i cant use the mac HD if thats what you are going to say...

cut and paste maybe?? i just drag and drop from the desktop in to a finder window. you can always change the default download folder too. hope this helps

Thanks, that works, but how doi change the thing with the white icon that looks like when you put a memory stick in to other folders?

(im such a computer noob)
