Hiah,

I am seriously considering getting my first mac and have been browsing round on ebay.

I have found the mac g4 range which is in my budget, however I was wondering will say, a dual 1ghz processor (the speed I was looking at) be sufficient to run leapoard as I am planning on using garageband, and doing some light video editing.

Thanks

You should be ok, but it won't be the quickest thing in the world. I do both on my 1 Ghz G4 iBook with a single CPU and it's slow but workable.

If the cash runs to it, keep on the lookout for a FW800 model, 1.25/1.42 (preferably) DP. Max out the memory to 2GB and it will be fine.

Well don't fall for the 1.73 nonsense ~ it is an 867MHz DP and will only ever run at that speed and is the absolute bare minimum for Leopard so do not expect too much. Note is has no keyboard or mouse and you should ask if the system discs are supplied with the machine.
