Hello,

I have a .avi file on my mac which I want to put onto a blank DVD-R disk so that I can view it on my DVD player/TV.

Do I have to convert the file first?
What is the best mac program for burning it to the DVD once it is in the right format?

Thanks.

does it play ok in quicktime, including sound

if so, you could use iDVD or Toast or Burn to create a dvd from it

Burn - Home

I am giving iDVD a go now (I usually use Toast, the menus in iDVD look cool)
