• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Take a look at Handbrake - it should do the job for you.

I think you just need to convert to mpeg2 format then burn.

Try VLC using the Streaming / Transcode Wizard. There are instructions on my site. You'll have to modify a little to do from .avi to .mpeg2

Also MPEGStreamClip

Hope these help.

I have handbrake and visualhub. Visualhub is the easiest program I've ever used.

Visualhub is awesome, i just don't mention it much anymore because it's no longer available.

Wish they would have at least left the latest rev available for download with a notice that no more support is available.

oh well.

If you're willing to invest the time, you can download the source and compile it yourself since the source has been made available by the author(s).

I didn't know it was no longer available. I thought they just weren't updating anymore. Too bad. It really is a great program. Well, I guess its either do like vansmith said or get Handbrake.
