I have noticed there are a large number of people who have switched over. So here is my first poll.

How many have switched in the past year?

Count me in. I switched about 9 months ago, and I already own an iMac, iBook, iSight, iPod, and I can't wait to get a G5.

:)

This was written with IE on Win2K in VPC6. I love my Mac(s).

As much as I wish I could say I switched I didn't I have always been with macintosh. It doesn't mean as much to a PC user when your arguing when you say you've been on a apple your whole life, than a mac user who switched. You guy make the mac world the great world that it is. With out switchers, apple wouldn't bother making their product any better, they don't have to impress the hardcore mac user, they have to impress the people thinking about switching, and the switchers, who still have that PC in their room. So I should thank you all for helping me out! :D
Though I have used PCs and made sure that my decision is the right one :) so I'm not flying blind.

I've ordered a G5 but i'll be using it primarily for work... i might also get an ibook too :D

As for switching, i'm 50/50... i really don't hate PC's - i still use them to do stuff like file trading, playing games and talking to friends.

Look to the left for my G5 specs... the only thing i don't like in my G5 is the graphics card. So i'll change that to an Nvidia NV40 when it get's released.

I got my mac on July 16th of this year. I remember it pretty well. My dad's girlfriend was at home, and called me as I was pulling in to the parking lot at work. She said it *just* came in by FedEx, and I thought, "great, I can play with it in 5 hours! Now all I've gotta do is live through the day without going crazy with anticipation!"

Then I walked in, and my managers were all standing around arguing about the weekly schedule. My least favorite manager, until yesterday, was in charge of making our schedules. On July 16th, he'd managed to biff it all up so bad that they had just about every employee at work at 11 am at this Wendy's that's in a business district (so we barely get customers until 11:30 or so, and once lunch is over, so's the customer rush). They started wispering, and then they asked me VERY politely if I could go home and come back at 4 PM. I don't think I've ever turned down the chance to work any faster than that time, that day.

Hmm... can't say I was ever one thing or another.. Oh and.. Ill trade that iPod for the G5.. whoever posted that :)

I've been a mac user for hmm.. well since 95.. and a PC user around 92.. then when OS X came out... about a year after that when it became stable.. I became a fulltime OS X user.. so Im not sure if I am a switcher or not ;)

I've been using a Power Mac G4 since July and I'm waiting for the arrival of my new PowerBook 12" within the next few days. Being a switcher wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Moved all my important documents over from my PC to the G4 (it doesn't get any easier) and the PC have been gathering dust ever since. Just about everything that I wanted to do on the PC, I could do it on the Mac as well, probably more efficiently.

How do u use a laptop in class? Isn't it quicker to take notes down with a pen n paper? I've never seen a laptop in a lecture yet.

its more efficient when professors send the notes out in word format already. and just adding what they say to the notes as they go.

Yeah it's much easier to type then to write.. for instance I can type around 90 words a minute, but writing? hah! i would be lucky to get 50 words.. it would probably be more around 30 or so works a minute.. it's much much better to type! :)

And yeah most professors these days have websites and release everything in word/wordperfect/rtf, etc

I can't honestly say that I'm a recent switcher, as I'd had a Mac as my primary PC several years ago (back in the OS6 days ;)). It has, however, been a long time since I've used a mac.. so I'd say that qualifies me well enough. I'll just put it this way: I was pleased with the Mac Classic when it was still a fairly current machine. I've been thoroughly blown away by the PowerBook with OS X on it. I still use my intel machine from time to time (partly because I can't afford to get another Mac to do hosting, and partly because there are some games that I like to play that just don't run on a Mac). I like the combination of friendly and UNIX (two of my favorite things on a machine). I fully intend on getting a G5 in the near future (probably wait until the next generation, and until I get this machine paid off :)).
