Hi, if anyone has time, which I understand no one does, I'm in a mess. I have bought a JVC camcorder that records to the Harddrive of the camera and creates .MOD files.
Ok, I have a converter AVS4YOU. No problem, but when I converted and tried to use it with FCE there was audio and no video. >:-(
So then I found a convertor for Mac, ( I still have 10.2.8 ) it is ffMpegX. So I downloaded this program and got the error so I downloaded the right stuff and still it won't work.
I committed to a create a video and I am so upset that I can't get the files into my FCE!
Please, someone with patience, please help. ...please?
Thanks CAH

.mod files

Hey, I feel your pain. I also have a JVC camcorder. I finally got FCE4 to recognize my video.

I had to download the Apple MPEG2 codec. I believe it was $20. I still cannot import directly into FCE4 so I have to use iMovie 08 as a middle step. Once I did this everything fell into place. Hope it helps.

Let me know how it works.

Did anyone ever try MPG Streamclip to see if it would convert the .MOD files? I would try it but have no .MOD video files to test it with.

It works perfectly. I have a video tutorial on my site at OS X Tech Tips

Hope it helps you out.
