Magicjack wont eject

Magicjack, a usb phone peripheral, wont eject properly. My roundabout solution is to turn off power as opposed to unplugging the device.

I am new to mac and here is a novice question. When I launch magicjack the phone window appears in place of the icon. When I click the close button, the icon or press quit, the icon disappears. How do I recover it without rebooting?
