How can i store a file greater than 4gb on my imac

Hello,

Iv only had my imac for about two months, used pcs the rest of my life.

Can some one tell me how i can save files greater than 4gb on my imac
i used to download files greater than 6gb on my pc with no problem, but the mac cant do it!

Is there something i can do, cos i just paid a new sub to megashare!

It should work fine considering that HFS+, the filesystem used by OS X, has a max files size of 8 Exbibytes which is plenty more than 4GB.

What are you downloading and with what?

Do you happen to be trying to save this file to a FAT32 formatted drive?

iPod Nano 4gb, 20" 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of ram, ATI HD 2600 pro
has a max files size of 8 Exbibytes which is plenty more than 4GB.
Hehe no joke, so go ahead and open up your disk utility program, which is within the utility's folder in your applications. Click on the hard drive (should be the top one in the white text area) then onto the partition tab and tell us what it says the format is.
