Loud disc drive?

iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz, 13-inch MacBook 2.4GHz, iPhone 4
I have a new iMac 24-inch. I am ripping music off some CD's I have and the disc drive is really loud when its going at speeds around 16x, is that normal??

Yes, the Superdrive in Macs is quite loud. It's just the nature of slot-loading drives.

Noisy drive

I have the 20" iMac, and my drive is quite noisy as well,guess it's the nature of the beast. Van

that's normal.. i remember when i first got a mac.. shocking but true.
