Thanks chscag! Is the installation of the RAM a very tedious job, or is it very easy?

It's really easy. There should be instructions in your manual.

I just checked online, it said basically, turn off the mac, take everything you have plugged in, out. Then remove the battery, remove the philips head screws (00) and then I have to turn the levers, take out the RAM, and then insert the new modules. The only thing I did not get was that I am supposed to touch something which is metal to discharge yourself...?

That just means that if you've been walking around in socks in a carpeted room, make sure you zap something safe instead of touching your RAM and possibly zapping that instead.

Alright, what would be suitable to zap myself on? I am going to be ordering the RAM either before or after the march break depending on when I get paid. Oh, also, how long does it take to come, because no one would be at my house during the march break, and I do not want the people to just leave it in the mailbox, or something like that.

A piece of metal, like your computer's case or a doorknob.

Is it worth buying the RAM? I have 1 GB, I run MS Word, Mozilla Firefox, and a bunch of other programs, but I can only run 3 at a time now, I will be running programs like Shovebox, screenflow, limewire, vuze, MSN messenger, GetTube, iTunes, Double Twist and, Semulov. Those are just the norms.

You'll definitely notice a speed increase going from 1 to 4 GBs. It'll allow you to run multiple programs at once, and OSX won't lag at all. Like i put 4 GBs in not too long ago, i normally run Entourage, thunderbird, adium, firefox, itunes, and office at the same time, and it's incredibly fast. I have the Crucial memory, high recommended!

Alright, well I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and my parents are getting me the RAM as a present, but they don't want to order from Crucial since shipping charges are a lot.

Would this work: Newegg.ca - PNY Optima 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model MN4096KD2-667 - Laptop Memory

I was looking at tigerdirect.ca and all the 667MHz RAM modules were PC5400 or too expensive, and AFAIK my MacBook can only support PC5300, correct? Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I think it saves bandwidth right?

Well I'm not sure how "cheap" your parents are about shipping rates;)...but I just checked to see how much shipping was for ram from OWC:

OWC

...and they're only charging $1.95 for U.S. Postal shipping.

You can't get much cheaper than that!:)
